A few years ago, MiOS was a relatively small company. It felt like a startup. Even so, its product, Vera, was powerful. The number of clients was increasing. Big players in the communication business were white-labeling its product. Each one having its own requests or specific changes.
As a QA team lead, our CEO was in between the clients, the project manager, developers and the QA team. At one point he realized he needed a tool.
What he needed was a tool to help him:
- manage versions and builds for clients;
- make the result of the testing visible to all the involved parties;
- help the managers make a quicker decision;
- ease the way the build was released to the client.
After realizing what he needed, he spoke with the managers to ask for their opinion on this matter. They agreed that they needed a tool for that. And also came up with more technical requirements for the tool.
Before starting to develop it, he looked for a similar tool already made on the web. However, he could not find one because they needed something specific. So he made a custom build management system for them.
